So I have been very bad and have not been keeping food logs. At all. BUT, I've mostly been eating fresh fruit and veggies so I've seen a distinct loosening in the waistline of my jeans. I haven't gotten out to the gym much, so I haven't been eating that much either. I haven't really been hungry lately, so I suppose that's a good thing.

HOWEVER. I have discovered something amazing. But first, some backstory.

I have hypoglycemia. For a quick and easy read, I ganked this from Wikipedia:

Hypoglycemia (hypoglycaemia in British English) is the medical term for a pathologic state produced by a lower than normal level of glucose (sugar) in the blood. The term hypoglycemia literally means "under-sweet blood" (Gr. hypo-, glykys, haima). Hypoglycemia can produce a variety of symptoms and effects but the principal problems arise from an inadequate supply of glucose as fuel to the brain, resulting in impairment of function (neuroglycopenia). Derangements of function can range from vaguely "feeling bad" to coma and (rarely) permanent brain damage or death. Hypoglycemia can arise from many causes and can occur at any age.

I bolded the parts that define my symptoms. I have unstable blood sugar, and when my sugar drops I show acute hypoglycemic symptoms - a horrible stomachache, headache, blurred vision and an "I must eat everything and I must eat it right now" feeling.

So now onto the something amazing:

While sitting in class on Monday, after a weekend of completely abstaining from white grains (which are very high on the glycemic index and responsible for a lot of insulin surges and crashes), I felt hunger creeping in. I must not have had enough fruit for breakfast. However, the amazing part was that despite feeling hungry for two hours, that's all I felt. On a diet completely void of grains, my hypoglycemic symptoms were completely nonexistent.

TL;DR: I discovered something scientists discovered a buttload of years ago and I lost an inch off of my waist. YAY.

ALSO - I'm going to buy a bikini and every day of the Body for Life program, I am going to take a picture of myself standing in the exact same spot every day. It should be interesting seeing my weight loss progress day-to-day in pictures. Maybe I'll make a GIF out of it.
